ST. STEPHEN
THE FOUNDER SAINT
The school derives its name from the name of Stephen , the first Christian Martyr of the first century missionaries after Jesus christ. St.
Stephen is regarded as the "Founder Saint" of the school and the "Founder Day" in the school is celebrated on 15th February every year. This day is marked as St. Stephan's Day in the Biblical Calender. All our students are expected to be aware of who St.Stephan was.
The Holy Bible says that St.Stephan was a man, full of faith, wisdom and Holy Spirit.God richly blessed him, and being full of power,he performed many great miracles and wonders among
the people of the early church. He spoke boldly against the Jewish leaders and the establishment in his mission to spread the message of God. He warned them about their rejection of God's messengers and
for not obeying God's Laws.As the members of the Jewish Council listened to Stephan, they were furious and gnashed their teeth in anger. However,Stephan, being filled with grace and power, looked up to Heaven and saw Jesus standing in glory at the right
hand of God.Then, the members of the council, with a loud cry, covered their eyes.Yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, threw him out of the city and stones
him to death. While he was being stoned,Stephan prayed to Jesus, like his master Jesus, for the forgiveness of the sin of the very person who killed him.
(New Testament,Acts:Chapter 6 and 7)
